Johanna is an award-winning painter originally from Chile, now based in the South of England. She holds an MA in Fine Arts from Camberwell College, University of the Arts London, as well as degrees in Anthroposophical Art Therapy and Design from the School of Architecture & Design at Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Chile (also known as Amereida). Her studies have also taken her to The Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, USA, and she has enriched her practice through years of courses, conferences, residencies, and professional development opportunities worldwide. Early in her career, she dedicated two years to studying the work of the Masters directly from museums across Europe.
Her teaching career began at Emerson College in Forest Row, England, where she taught painting for nine years before continuing as an independent educator.
In 2007, Johanna established BLANK artists’ studios and gallery in Brighton (www.blankstudiosgallery.org), where she curated and created numerous experimental, community-oriented exhibitions, events, and performances.
In 2010, she co-founded Involuntary Park, an art practice focused on place-making, regeneration, and community engagement.
Currently, Johanna divides her time between working as an art therapist, serving as a creative consultant for international organizations, leading creative retreats, and painting in her studio.
