Barry Mason initially trained as a fine artist and spent decades creating sculpture in various materials. His works are now held in private and public collections around the world.

Alongside his artistic career, Barry has always nurtured a parallel passion for music. About fifteen years ago, he discovered the world of the gong, sound therapy, and healing. Since then, he has been fortunate to collaborate with several leading gong practitioners, playing handpan and other percussion instruments alongside the gongs.

Barry has previously made gongs from copper, stainless steel, and brass. However, an encounter with an extraordinary titanium gong set him on a new path for future projects, and he now works exclusively with pure elemental titanium.

He was also fortunate to study under Keith Critchlow, who introduced him to the world of sacred geometry. Keith, who wrote many books on the subject and became the principal of Prince Charles’s Art School, greatly influenced Barry’s work. Many of the images Barry uses now have their origins in this study.

In addition, Barry has been inspired by the work of John Stuart Reid and his scientific efforts to make sound visible.
